Opinions on The Park
Jason:
I was expecting a kinda fun fair zoo, almost a budget Chessington, but was very wrong. They have a couple of really great rides and a few good ones and the Zoo is fantastic with a variety of large and small animals ranging from farmyard to exotic, fun for all the family kinda jealous I was not local to it growing up.
Kate:
Damn good theme park zoo combination, had something for most people in terms of thrills. Park seemed fairly accommodating and accessible. Not overly themed in the theme parks side but didn’t take away from the fun. Worth a visit if nearby.
Rollercoasters
Number at the Park - 9 (+1 Powered)
Number Ridden - 8
Below are information and opinions on the roller coasters we have ridden.
Sik
Manufactured by - Intamin
Opened - 2022
Jason:
Newer than Colossus, smoother than Colossus and more comfortable than Colossus but, Colossus is still better. I guess theming and interaction with the landscaping really does go a long way (also nostalgia)
Kate:
Imagine you cleaned and ironed Colossus and then themed it to a clothing brand, that's Sik.
Velocity
Manufactured by - Vekoma
Opened - 2005
Jason:
I was expecting thrills akin to riding a tricycle down a hill. Fun for a kid. Blown away if you ever see the ride photo I look like I was having the time of my life… I was, Kinda want to put it in my top 10.
(see blog post for ride photo)
Kate:
I have a sweet spot for this coaster model, I think I prefer this to booster bikes just, it’s got a pretty forceful launch.
Hero
Manufactured by - Zamperla
Opened - 2013
Jason:
I guess this is what being gaffer taped to a red arrow inside a shark cage feels like. I hated it at first but then I embraced the chaos and was in hysterics all the way to the station. Like a 90s straight-to-VHS action movie. You know it is going to be shit but you love it.
Kate:
Being up one rung too many probably saved me the headache, still painful and I have no plans to ride it again.
Mumbo Jumbo
Manufactured by - S&S Sansei
Opened - 2009
Jason:
Something about small car rides like El Locos and Eurofighters does not agree with me and not really thrilled by the beyond vertical drops on them (not that I have ridden many) preferred this to Saw the not so zero g stall was great and it has some fun elements. The queue was a bit long.
Kate:
I thought this was going to be rougher than it was, has some fun elements in a tight course.
Kumali
Manufactured by - Vekoma
Opened - 2006
Jason:
Probably my favourite SLC, great inversions and near misses, felt fast and did not feel as compact as it was. I love the look of the trains and the African vibe fits the Zoo you can also spy the Lions from the lift hill.
Kate:
Different layout for an SLC, definitely helped reduce the roughness, still not great but better than the average SLC
Zooom!
Manufactured by - Zamperla
Jason: Cute ride for kids and a nice break after a lot of thrills, shame about the queue.
Kate: Who doesn’t want to fly a tiny plane, a decent ride for kids though was our second-longest queue of the day.
Opened - 2011
Dino Roller
Manufactured by - Diego Cavazza
Jason: Very cool dino area and a nice compact classic-looking ride, bet it is a lot of fun as a young kid.
Kate: This thing feels like it's not going to complete its course if too many adults ride.
Opened - 1988
Twistosaurus
Manufactured by - Zamperla
Jason: It spins, I would rather loop Goudurix or an SLC all day than spin. Kinda fun tho and cute theme.
Kate: Who doesn’t love a spinning ride? Jason doesn’t, I enjoyed it though.
Opened - 2013
